My friends computer keeps getting the following message
and shutting down, can anyone please explain it?

"This system is shutting down. Please save all work in
progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost.
This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Time before shutdown: (counter)

Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call
(RPC) service terminated unexpectedly."

He has sent an error report but cannot check for a reply
as his computer does not give him time to check open
anything.
I hope someone can help explain this.

Hello

You have the MS blast Virus, see below

MSBAST.EXE VIRUS HOW TO REMOVE RPC ERROR
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.html

If anyone as a problem keeping there system up long enough to remove the

virus try this first, you may have to be quick!
To end the Trojan process:
1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete once.
2. Click Task Manager.
3. Click the Processes tab.
4. Double-click the Image Name column header to alphabetically sort the
processes.
5. Scroll down the list and look for msblast.exe.
6. If you find the file, click it, and then click End Process.
7. Exit the Task Manager.
