Greetings Melissa,

In the error that apologizes for the inconvenience of Messenger shutting down, click the
"click here" link -- in the next screen, you'll see something like the
following: szAppName : msmsgs.exe szAppVer : 4.7.2009.0 szModName : rpcrt4.dll

If you could reply back with what the szModName has in your error, would make it easier to
determine what the problem is.

I have the exact same problem and posted 5/28 and never
got a reply after the initial request for more
information. I hope you get a better response.

So what is causing this problem that many are having? I
have downloaded all the updates out there, uninstalled
all my messenger services and reinstalled them and still
have the problem. Please if anybody has any suggestions I
would appreciate it!

Add me to the list of people having this problem on my sisters xp machine. I'm still using win 98 and am not having such a problem, but I sure would like to fix it for her!
