When I had windows ME on my computer, I purchased a
Scanport 3000 scanner. Installed the software, had no
problems. Then I upgraded to windows XP on my computer,
had no problem. I had to reformat my hard drive, and
since that time I have no been able to use my scanner.
When I go to MGI PhotosuiteIII to scan, it gives the
following error message. " 1.) Check to see if power
adapter is plugged in the scanner, 2.) check to see is
usb cable is properly connected with the scanner and PC,
3.) USB setting is enable in BIOS". The adapter is
plugged in, and the scanner is correctly connected to the
computer. Any suggestion on what BIOS is, or something
else I could check. Thanks!!

Does the scanner appear in the Scanners and Cameras control panel?
Have you tried hunting for suitable TWAIN drivers?
ftp://ftp.microtek.com/microtek/pcfiles/sw260.exe
might be useful. (Approx. 4 MB download. There's also a 3-floppy version
available for download, if you must install it that way.)
HTH.

>In order to get into the BIOS on most new computers; re-
start you computer, as soon as the first screen starts to
appear, press DELETE. This should take you to your BIOS
setup screen. Universal Serial Bus is half software and
half hardware. In the advanced screen of your BIOS setup,
scroll down until you come to USB ENABLED or DIS-ABLED.
It is real easy for the USB to become dis-abled through
improper program shutdown, etc. Because it is software,
it is not as reliabe as the old parallel cable types.
