There is a DOS emulator you can access a command line that
acts generally like DOS by Start/Run (type) cmd

Not all DOS commands are supported, at the cmd prompt type
HELP and you'll get a list of commands. This list will
scroll. To see the details type the command, space /?

The NT operating Kernel is not based on DOS and has been separate for quite
a long time. There are many features that are similiar, such as command
line driven utilities, but they are vastly different.

Windows 95/ 98/ 98SE/ ME are all operating systems based on the old MS
DOS kernel and uses some form of the FAT file system. Windows NT 3.51/
NT 4.0/ 2000/ XP are based on the NT kernel and use the NTFS file
system (though you can load it on FAT32 but I really wouldn't). IOW,
XP doesn't use DOS anymore, though you can still open a command window
up in it.
