Hello,
I have made a minor boo-boo and cannot correct it and am
looking for help. I was trying to load video codecs to
the device manager when things went awry.
First I went to "add new hardware" and used the wizard.
I checked yes I have alreay connected the hardware and
hit "next". I then clicked on "Video Codecs" and
hit "next" and then "Finish"
When I went to look at the Device Manager I was surprised
to find duplicate entires of "Video Codecs" under Sound,
Video and Game controllers.
When I right click one of these lines and get properties
I see a list of different Codecs (which were already
there no changes occured when I performed the above
steps).
When I right click the other new video codec line and get
properties I see something different. I get the following
under a the driver tab:
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date : 7/1/2001
Driver Version: 5.1.2535.0
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows XP Publisher
Below this info are four buttons they are:
Driver Details (which says
C:/WINDOWS/System32/DRIVERS/audstub.sys)
Update Driver
Rollback Driver
Uninstall (which is grayed out and disabled)
Here are my questions. What have I just loaded onto my
computer? Why are there two lines that both say "Video
Codecs" but have different information in each? How do
I remove the new "Video Codec" line from my device
manager or is this something that I want to leave there.
Many thanks in advance for any guidance on this
situtation.
Best Regards,
Myles
