This is a firewire card so do not remove it from the network. If you do not
need it, remove the card from the computer but otherwise it does no harm so
just leave it alone.

An internet gateway, is a rather non-technical term (more of a functional
term) that refers to the connection you use to get on the net.... it serves
as the critical link between your computer, and a TCP/IP (internet)
connection.
Check the glossary available via "Help and Support" on your START menu....
it's not bad....
But here's the grand daddy of internet/computer/techno glossaries....:
http://www.faqs.org/docs/jargon/index.html (ironically, it doesn't list
gateway... but it has many, many other terms)
