View Full Version : Task Selector on left hand side - how to get rid?

Hi

I've notice in XP that everytime I open anything such as
a drive (e.g. my computer, my downloads, C: etc) I get
the required file listing but down the left hand side of
the box is a window that shows the available tasks and
appears to invite me to click on whatever I want to do.
However, when I want to show several screens at one time
these panels really take up too much room and I want to
get rid of the so that when I select c:, for example, I
just have a list of the files and have to use the toolbar
at the top if I want to take any action.

Looking around generally, Microsoft obviously seem to
consider these panels some sort of trademark - there's
such a panel now headed "community groups" at the side of
this discussion list.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of them please.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Margaret

Open a folder, Tools, Folder Options and choose "Use Windows classic =
folders".
