View Full Version : "IPSec Certificate" template from CertSrv

I'm trying to make "IPSec Certificate" available in the drop-down box
of templates on the Advanced Certificate Request page. I have added
it to the list of certificate templates to issue on the W2k3 Standard
server, yet it's unavailable on the CertSrv site.

I've searched the net and found others with the same question but no
definitive answers. Often the questioner is asked to use the
Offline/Router version of the template instead. My real goal is to
load the IPSec certificates directly into notebooks' smart cards. My
associate insists that the Offline/Router version will not do for this
purpose, though I haven't been able to confirm this for myself.

I've seen screenshots of "IPSec Certificate" appearing in the
drop-down box, but not from what I knew to be a W2k3 Standard server
hosting an Enterprise CA. It's also possible that my combination
doesn't support that particular template. That's all I can think
of...I'm rather stuck on this.

I have tried removing it from the list of templates to issue and
re-adding it. That didn't help. I tried making a copy of it and
issuing the copy, but the copy didn't even appear in the list of
templates I could issue. I suspect this is because I'm using Standard
rather than Enterprise server.

Thanks for your help,
Seasanctuary
