View Full Version : Win XPSP2 RC1 Vs RTM
I will be getting a copy of Win XP SP2 RC1 and am wondering, when RTM is
sent (via MSDN Universal) will it be able to install over RC1 without having
to reinstall all my apps? And am I falsing assuming that SP2 RC1 will
install over SP1 also w/o having to re-install my apps?
thanks

You will need to uninstall SP2RC1 before installing SP2RTM.
You may need to reinstall any apps that were installed while running RC1.
No problem with SP1.

I wouldn't (and won't). But the RC1 install makes a backup for
uninstalling (whether you like it or not) and the thing to do will be to
use that, then install the RTM.
Or (as well) make an image of the system partition in advance - trouble
is I have now installed quite a lot of things since, so going back to
that would be a bind
