generic drivers for 56k modem

I gave a friend a 56k modem for her win xp home. The
drivers on cd are not for xp. It's an old modem (aureal)
company no longer exist. Are there generic drivers
somewhere that I can download for this because xp cannot
find the drivers in the database unless they can go to
the web?

You may want to try to load one of the Win9x drivers and see if they work on
XP. Aside from that, if it's a really old sound card, you may be better off
getting a new modem. If it is a 56k modem, you may still have some luck
locating it online. Feel free to contact me if you need additional help.

They won't. The driver format from Win9x to 2000/XP is
totally different.

Software modems (most cheap internal modems) require
specific drivers, there cannot be a generic one.

You can get a supported, newer, internal 56k modem for
$10 or less at most computer stores, that's probably the
best bet here. You can always search using Google for
Windows 2000/XP drivers as well.

It would be good if others would weigh in on this - wouldn't an NT
driver do?
