I recently upgraded from OEM XP PRO (pre-SP1) to XP PRO
2002/SP1. My Plextor CD-RW is not detected properly. It
will not read any CD media and will not write a CDR.

Set system up to dual boot from C: with pre-SP1 and CD-RW
works, from D: with 2000/SP1 and CD-RW does not work.

USB 2.0 PCI card installed and needs SP1 and OEM version
will not let me install SP1 from Windows Upgrade.

MB, BIOS levels verfified to be latest per request of MS
support tech. Can anyone help explain how old XP works
and new XP does not support same hardware?

Do you have any software writing software insalled such as Nero or Easy CD
Creator. If yes, have you checked for updates for those applications or, if
you have the latest version, have you tried removing and reinstalling that
software.
