I run windows home edition xp with aol. i downloaded a
window's update (Kb824146). before the download, my dial
up connection session speed ave. 49-50,000 bps. since
the download, my aol session speed is between 30-
38,000bps. what can i do to increase my session speed?
or, how can i remove the window's download so that my
speed returns?

Hi,

Keep in mind that with a dial-up connection, what you see indicated is the
initial connection speed, after that it will vary depending upon conditions
and usage. Fast is not always better either, a "dirty" connection will cause
more issues than a slower connection with good throughput.

If you wish to uninstall the update, look for the hotfix in the control
panel/add & remove. Either that or the spuninst.exe file in the backup
folder the installation created in the %windir%
