Restart problems!

I've just started getting exactly the same problem Kenny,
it's driving me mad. I've pored over the Microsoft
Knowledge Base articles without success and the Dell
Support site was no use either.

Shall we compare notes?
My machine is a newish Dell Dimension 8250 running XP Pro.
It shuts down fine but just will not restart at all. It
hangs in exactly the place you mention. It used to be OK
but has only started doing this recently. Of the things
that I've installed recently I'm most suspicious of the
mandatory Windows Updates, Office XP SP3 and a BIOS
upgrade (to A04). Have you installed any of those? Maybe
there's a common factor.
