My OS is XP PRO - I want to change the boot drive (C:)
from a 9 Gig drive to a 36 Gig Drive (currently installed
as H: drive). Do I have to reload all the stuff currently
on C:, then change H: to C: and C: to H:, or is there a
way to 'copy' C: to H: and then change the drive letters?

Does anyone have a procedure?

Many thanks for your assistance. Please reply through this

Hi RF,

Most new drives come with a program to change the system from the old to the
new drive.

Try the web sight of the 36Gig drive, you should be able to download it from
there.

And if not, both Ghost and DriveImage are products that let you
do this.

Rob -

You cannot reassign the drive letter of the boot partition (C:) because the
OS writes the boot loader to the disk.

In order to make your 36gig drive the primary partition you will have to
pull out your 9gig drive, install the 36gig drive, install an OS on the
drive, and re-install the 9gig drive afterward. You also have to make sure
the jumpers are set properly on the drive. The 36gig drive should be your
primary partition, and the 9gig should be your secondary.
