Place your XP CD in the CD drive. Reboot your computer. If it boots to the
CD you just have to follow the on-screen instructions. If it boots to the
original Windows, Reboot again and enter your bios (Systems vary but hit Esc
or Del, or F1 or F2 or Ctrl + Alt + S upon the initial screens) and change
your 1st boot device to your CD Rom drive. Save changes and exit. This
will reboot and read from your CD Drive.

Hi Kim -
If you perform a fresh install of Windows there is an option to format the
drive. If you have any questions on how to do this, please little 'r' me.
