View Full Version : Icon movement on the desktop

I am running Windows XP Professional on an IBM Think Pad.
I arrange the icons on the Desktop manually, but several
times each session, and slways when I start the computer,
the icons rearrange themselves. I haven't found a way to
avoid this and it is driving me crazy.
Any suggestions as to how to stabilize the icon locations
pon the Desktop?
Thanks,
Frank

Right click desktop, select arrange icons remove X from auto arrange. I
personally use 'align to grid'. It keeps them spaced and neat and always
where I put them.

Thanks for the input. I also use just the "align to grid"
but, with no alignment options checked at all, the icons
still move. Also, when I customize the desktop and select
a theme or background or screen saver, these choices also
change from time to time. I don't know why.
I will appreciate any other suggestions. I've tried to
find help in a variety of Microsoft manuals, to no avail.
Thanks,
Frank
