Hi Group,

I just bought myself a new 80GB Maxtor Harddrive. I plugged it in and it
sprang on. Super I thought. Until I looked at the properties and it shows
only 31,4 GB when it should be 80GB. How do I get it up to the proper
level? I remember hearing about this before but I do not remember the
solution.

All help would be gratefully appreciated

Make sure you have SP1 installed, and that LBA is enabled. Are you certain
that the BIOS of your motherboard can recognize a drive that large?

See if my response in the newusers group explains it.

If you must multipost, please do it correctly and crosspost to the
appropriate groups. You've been here long enough to know that.

You are right Rick. Sorry. :-) It won't happen again. :-)

Check the jumper settings on the harddisk. Could be set up to limit capacity
to 32 GB. Or download the new version of fdisk.exe from Microsoft that can
recognise new large harddisk.
