saving updates

hello
is there any way to save all the long and drawn out
critcal updates you have to download after you install
i:e: xp so you don't have to go through it all again when
you need to do a reinstall.it takes hours on dial up 56k
can you keep them on the backup system

The installed updates are not in a form that can be saved for later
use.
Download the updated from the Windows Update Catalog and burn to CD:
