After recently installing windows xp, I started having
problems with my sound card. Whenever the computer tries
to play a sound, it says that there is no sound card, yet
when I go to the device manager it is listed. When I
uninstall it in the device manager and then tell it to
look for new devices, it finds it and works just fine.
But after a reboot, it losses it again. The card is a
sound blaster live. I went to the sound blaster web site
and down loaded the latest driver for xp and it does the
same thing. I removed the sound card and tried the on-
board audio; same symptoms. I down loaded the latest bios
from asus (motherboard is a A7V8x-x) that did not fix it.
I don't understand why I can fix it , but then with every
re-boot it is the same thing. Any help is appreciated.
