Internet Explorer

For some reason the dropdown menus on IE no longer work properly.
For instance if I click on toolss and then Internet options the menu
just closes.
On the Help menu nothing works so I can't even determine the version.
I'm running XP Pro but don't see a place to delete or re-install IE.
Any help would be appreciated.

There is indeed a way to re-install IE on XP. You will actually find it in
the "Add/Remove windows components" section within add/remove programs.
