When bringing my PC out of standby mode or booting up from cold apart from
the usual yawning and stretching every PC goes through when booting I get a
brief small black screen (such as in Start - Run - CMD) appearing. It
doesn't seem to harm anything so need I be concerned?
(A clue may, and I say only may, be that my McAfee Activeshield gives a
"components missing" error message when coming out of standby mode but not
when started from cold. This problem has been posted in McAfee group.)

There probably isn't much to worry about. I have always
thought of the boot process as the most chaotic thing a
computer goes through, hardware must be redected and
reconfigured with software trying to start and perform
activities while all this is happening. It's kind of
scary. That screen is probably just Windows doing God-
knows-what. If nothing seems to be wrong, then don't
fret. And as for McAfee, I have no idea, sorry.
