View Full Version : Scheduled Tasks

I read with interest a claim that someone was defragmenting, spybotting,
ad-awaring their system while they slept using Scheduled Tasks. I tried this
but have only been able to figure out a couple of the necessary "switches"
to make all the scheduled maintenance programs I would like to be automated
actually run ie. some programs will open but often need buttons pushed
before they actually do anything. Case in point being both Ad Aware and
Spybot. They open on time but just sit there because they need "check for
problems" pushed (Spybot) or "start" (Ad Aware). I have tried Help and
Support in XP and both programs and also MS and Google but haven't tripped
over anything yet except the idea that I need some "switches". If anyone has
them for these two particular programs I would be very grateful. Thank you.

For Ad Aware, they have their own set of support forums where the
switches have been discussed. Here is a link to a post where the
command line switches are discussed:
