I want to access an old back up file which was done under
Win 98 and has the file extension qic. I now have XP Pro
and I can't restore, as it does recognise the qic
extension.
Without having to reinstall win 98, is there any way
round this problem?

No, I'm afraid not, at least using native Microsoft tools. There
may be a 3rd party solution provided by one of the software
manufacturer who specialize in backup solutions, such as Veritas or
Cheyenne. You'll need to restore the files using a Win98 PC before
trying to transfer them to WinXP.

No with XP Backup. You need to download MYBackup program to restore
QIC files. See http://www.stompinc.com/trial/
