Defrag

I am having considerable problems in attempting to defrag
my computer. Both with the XP Home package defrag and
disk keeper defrag tool. They both lock up the system
shortly after activation. Any cure out there?

You could have programs running in background or you could
have less than 15% free space on the drive.
Defrag needs space to shuffle files around while it works.
Diskeeper will report the freespace, just do analyzed and
then report. If the space is less than 15% delete unneeded
files.
If there are programs running (Trojans?/spyware) stop them.
You can try safe mode.
