For two weeks now, since re-installing XP Pro I get a window 'printer found' in the new hadware utility. XP continues to try to install, then gives up. I have two USB connected printers, an HP 2410xi and a Canon i410. Both operate as designed with no probl
ems. I have un/re-installed both several times. Uninstalled both and the intalled first one and then the other, then switched the process. Re-installed XP and also ran XP repair. I have removed each printer from the system and the problem persists. I have
checked the 'do not display' box in the install window to no avail. My conclusion is that the registry must have a connection to this problem but when I check registry (very carefully) I find nothing out of the ordinary. I have went through the above list
ed proceedures many times. No luck. I give up - can someone help?

Cari:
Thank you for your prompt and courteous response.
I did exactly as your provided link detailed and re-installed both printers as directed by their respective manuals.
I still have this benign but annoying, non-existing printer install window popup.
Win XP is worth the occaisional blip and I guess I will put up with this error until I decide to go the fdisk, format and re-install everything routine once more.
