XP install

I have recently upgraded my computer and was also looking
to upgrade it to XP so i got hold of XP Professional and
placed it in my cd drive and before it would even start
the install manager it froze. now this happens many times
so before i asked for help i decided to get another cd.
With my other computer i was given XP Home edition
preloaded and along with it i was given a CD with it on
so i tired loading that and behold it worked or so i
thought. it got to the point where it was just about to
install componants (the end of preparing intallation) and
it froze. Can you help?
