Hi,

I have an intel motherboard with built-in sound card.
Windows XP doesn't pick the right driver for it. Windows
update also does not suggest any drivers for it. In
Device Manager, under Sound, Video and Game Controllers,
I can see an item with an exclamation mark on it,
named "SM Bus Controller".

Anyone know how to fix this?

Greetings --

Download and install the WinXP-specific device drivers for the
motherboard and its integrated components from the motherboard
manufacturer's web site.
