error message RUNDLL32.exe

My screen saver doesn't work (I get a blank screen which
doesn't seem to respond to anything I do), and when I
tried to go into the control panel to fix it, the screen
froze and I eventually got the error message
RUNDLL32.exe. What can I do to fix this?

Hi Andrea,

I would try installing Service Pack 1 for Windows XP.
