Hello,

I have a folder on my computer that I copied from one of
our servers. It is marked as read only - so i right
click it and uncheck the read only box. It seems like it
changes it but when I go back and check the attributes
again, the folder is marked as read only again. I have
administrator rights on the folder and permission to
change the attributes. Why is this happening?

Are you able to access and edit files *within* the folder? The read only
attribute on a folder is not nearly as important as what attribute and
permissions are attached to the files inside.

When using NTFS, the mark in the box is always present. Even if the
folder is *not* read only. Its presence means that the *folder contents*
have attributes and permissions that are available and that may be
active.

Display attributes in Explorer's view if you need a quick reference for
the attributes of the files you need to work with.
