I have a DLINK DSL-200 USB ADSL running on XP Pro SP1 on a new Mitac
laptop - often when coming out of
standby and sometimes when coming up from a cold boot, I get the BSOD and an
IRQ_NOT_LESS error referring to gaausb.sys

Using latest driver (v1.11) from DLINK website. It was OK for a while, but
it
is starting to frustrate me after about 2 months of trying to find a
solution on the web via various forums. I have uninstalled and re-installed
several times. All I can find is various forum messages relating to
gaausb.sys, but often not to do with USB ports, and no solution to this.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Would it help if I posted the
Event Log data here?

you could try setting your A/V program not to scan that gaausb.sys file or
if not possible then set not to scan any (*.sys)
