XP password protected Files

I have my old laptop hard drive attached to a USB device
that allows me to read it, in order to salvage my old
files, but I had a password protected user profile set up
and now I cannot access the file I need out of My
Documents. Does anybody know how to get around this as I
have tried everything that I can think of?
