View Full Version : Clipboard "stops" working

I've had experiences with several XP desktops where after
using copy/paste (any variant of menu, vs. hot-keys) a
large number of times, that it just stops working...

For example, I highlight a field in an application and
press Ctrl-C, move to another field or application and
when I press Ctrl-V nothing is pasted. This occurs after
successfully doing a copy/paste from this very field many
times.

If I use the menu, I do Edit|Copy and then Edit|Paste (the
Paste option on the menu is active -- bold -- indicating
there is something in the clipboard) still nothing appears.

Any thoughts? Right now, it appears rebooting resolves
it, but that isn't practical...

Thanks,
Dave

I don't know why, but occasionaly you have to empty it.

This will empty the clipboard:
Start | Run | Type: clipbrd | OK |
Click the Delete X | Yes | Close

OR

To clear the contents of the Clipboard
[[In ClipBook Viewer, click the Window menu, and then click Clipboard.
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
Click Yes.
Note
Because the Clipboard stores information in multiple formats, clearing it
may free some memory. ]]

For a shorcut to Clipboard:
Right click Desktop | New | Shortcut |
Paste:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\clipbrd.exe

Next | Finish

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Another fast way to clear the clipboard, highlight one text character and
select Copy from the right click menu.

Attached.

I wonder what it lists the data format as in Clipboard viewer (This is the only time you'll hear me say anything about this program)
