CD not reading file format

I have a number of CDs that I can read from Win98, but on
my XP box, I get an "File Format: Unknown". Any way to
change things so I can read these?

I have had the same problem and I finally solved it by putting the CD
back into the drive it was burnt on and closing it off so that it can be
"read on any CD drive" [Adaptec software].
