I have had this machine for many months but never
attempted using the CD writer before. Whenever i try to
use it Windows (XP Pro) is unable to read the disk or even
vverify that it is there. This not only happens on blank
CD-R/CD-RWs but also CD-Rs that have already been written
to.

All the drive will read is normal software or audio
CD/DVDs. All drivers are correct, no error messages, any
ideas?

You are not finalizing the discs and did not install the UDF reader software
that came with the drive.
