CD Player Not Reading Software CD's or Audio CD's

I have a Compaq Presario 1500 laptop. The DVD/CD RW
Drive will not read software or audio cd's. It reads
DVD's fine. It's like its only a DVD drive and not a cd
drive. Any help?

Do you have the drivers that support the CDRW part of the drive installed?
Upgrade Firmware.
