After setting up Outlook Express on XP, I have been
unable to access the spell check. I tried the "help"
button, but it just told me to do exactly what I had
already tried. The "spelling" option is not highlighted.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Install Microsoft Office with the spell checking features. OE does not
come with a spell checker but can use the one that comes with Office.

So you've tried installing an MS Office family application then?

Greetings --
Outlook Express, as you've discovered, has no spell-checking
capabilities of its own. Instead, it relies upon the presence of
other Microsoft applications, such as the Office Suite, Word, or the
Works Suite. There are also some 3rd-party shareware/freeware
solutions available at any of the many shareware sites on the Internet
Spell Magic seems well thought-of, though I haven't tried it myself:

Joel,
Vanilla Works will /NOT/ work. The Works Suite is required as this contains
Word.
