LAN problems

Hello world. My room mate has just had a rather
interesting problem with his computer. Its internet just
randomly stopped working. There were no problems with it
last ngiht or earlier today, but just this evening, poof,
boom, no more cabel.
We connect to a switch witch in turn connects to a hub
that is connected to a cabel modem. There are 3 computer
connected to the switch, my two, and his one. He is using
windopws XP, my two are using 98SE. Any help solving this
problem would be very much apreciated.
