I can play DVDs on my Pentium 4 1.7 gig machine with
Verbatim VBTDVRW1A DVD recorder, and 40gig hard drive.
When I put in a software disk for a pgm installation it
gives me a msg that the disk is not formated.
What do I do to remedy this. I've tried installing a cd
drive in place of the DVD to no avail.

Rich, do you have SP1 Windows Update installed? Take a look here for some
info.
