make sure dma is enabled for both ide controllers under
device manager.
could be the cd drive on your pc that does not like the
media used to make the cd, not uncommon to happen.
Some drives simply wont accept certain brands of cd's.
try taking the cd drive from the 98 pc and installing it
in your pc, try then, let me know.
