usb flash drive not llisted or displaying files

New computer, running XP - I plug in the USB flash drive
and received the "what do you want to do with this.." XP
message each time I plug the drive in. Tiring of this
message, I selected "do nothing" because I didn't
necessarily want the drive to open, but rather simply be
available. Since selecting this option, I can't
even "see" my drive in the Explorer or the Run commands.
The USB ports are functioning properly, and the drive is
also (tried it on other machines). I tried uninstalling
the drive with the idea of wiping out the "do nothing"
preference and reinstalling the drive - no luck. Any
ideas?

I wish I had a solution! I'm joining the discussion with my own version of
the issue.

I'm attaching a Sony DSC-S70 digital camera to transfer images. Not fully
grokking the ramifications of my selection I pushed the WRONG selection, I
selected "Take No Action".

Now, each time I plug in the camera, the device appears to be recognized and
installed just fine but I can't do anything with it. I can't map a drive to
it; I can't copy files from it.
It just sits there -- connected.

All administrative/device/computer management approaches say the device and
drivers are all working great!

I've uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled half a dozen times with, what
seems like, a half dozen different methods. I even manually deleted all
references from the Registry.

How do I get to the Options for installed devices? I've tried Device
Manager, Computer Management. It doesn't seem possible to adjust or change
the setting of "Take No Action" once you've chosen it. Seems like there HAS
to be a way to fully restore the wizard selections that used to pop-up.

I'm already considering just reformatting and reinstalling the whole
computer! It would likely take less time than trying to research a problem
like this!

You could use system restore.
