I have the problem described in Knowledge Base Article 271248, but this article only applies to Windows 2000. How do I fix this problem in Windows XP?
Although the prnters do not appear in the control pannel "printers and faxes" window, I and limted users can still print.
Thank you.

Sorry I did not provide full information in my initial post. The problem is that the installed printers do not appear in the "printers and faxes" folder and the Printer setup wizard does not run. Knowledge Base Article 271248 (which applied to Windows 200
0) suggests that there may be duplicate dll files in the %systemroot% folder. I checked this and did not find any duplicates. The files in the \Windows folder are
opuc.dll
PCDLIB32.DLL
qvphook.dll
twain.dll
twain_32.dll
vmmreg32.dll
How can I fix this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Windows 2000 and XP are essentially the same. That fix will work for XP.
This happened on a friend's computer yesterday. We
haven't fixed it yet but it seems like this problem
occurred just after installing the latest critical updates
for XP..
