View Full Version : Built in LAN on NF7-Sv2.0 and Linskeys NIC and HUB

I am running Windows XP Professional and MB is Abit NF7-Sv2.0 with 2500+ AMD
Processor.

I have a built in LAN onboard that is 10/100. I also have Linskeys 10/100
NIC and hub that I purchased some time ago. I have another older XP Home PC
that I want to hook to the XP Professional PC. The XP Home PC has the
Linskeys NIC installed since it does not have built in LAN.

My question is can I plug my built in LAN to the HUB on the XP Pro PC or do
I need to install the other Linskeys 10/100 NIC? My purpose for this setup
is to share dial up Internet Connection and files. I believe that the
Linskeys NIC is natively supported by XP so I don't need drivers.

I am wondering about a conflict since my built in NIC also has a
green/yellow light indicator to detect speed. The Linskeys hub also detects
speed--will the 2 both be fighting for control?

I am completely new to networking so I would appreciate any advice or
comments on the best way to hook the 2 PC's together.
