I have one DOS program that will take us a few years to migrate off from.
This program runs fast on WIN98 SE and WIN 2000 machines, but on XP machines
it is extremely slow. Is there anyway to speed the performance up on the XP
machines?

If it uses a graphical display then try running it full screen.=20

Steve;
I've got the same problem - a DOS program that I must run under XP Pro.
Performance is pathetic! It runs way faster under 98 SE. I've tried
changing everything in the properties and nothing makes any difference. I
hope someone comes up with a solution, but all that I can offer is
consolation.
Good Luck

Sorry to say there may be nothing you can do . Xp is not designed to run
dos. As was stated Try Compatible mode, other wise good luck. Other than
that if you must run dos you should consider running a dual boot with 98 or
ME.

Even though I have not tried this nor have I read any results from
experiments performed by others, I wonder if Virtual PC by Connectix (now
owned by and soon to be obliterated by Microsoft) can help. Install a true
DOS virtual machine within XP and run the program inside the VM.
If you do this, please let us all know how it turned out.
Also, how well does this DOS program work with respect to printing
hardcopy?
