I've been getting a message simply stating "Windows
Installer Error 1601".

What does that mean and how can I overcome this error?

Most of the 1601 errors are due to an incorrect or missing entry in the
registry. There are several articles in the MS Knowledge Base about this
error. Each article is a little different, based on what the rest of
that error message is.

You can search for "1601" using Help and Support while online. Or use
the search engine at the Knowledge Base:
