I have a Toshiba Satelite #1105, with XP.
Every time I upload, download or just walk away from, my
laptop for a short while, it shots down. I can't use my
screen saver at all, because if I leave it, it goes off.
It has a battery pack, but I have it pluged into the wall,
and it is on DSL.
I tried the Toshiba web site, but could not find an answer.
Someone told me,that this is built in to the laptop and
can not be changed.
If not, how can I change the setting, so it stays on?

Press "esc" key upon turning on and then should be
prompted to press f1 key to go into bios settings
(now this works for my Toshiba so hope yours is
same as it is a different model)
When in bios look around for settings that affect
power on/downs etc.mine has some yours may also have some.
