At this stage I need serious help.Could not get Xp to load on
formatted drive no matter what so I removed the drive and put it
into another pc and lo and behold xp loaded ok.Took it back to the original
pc and it wont boot.Makes no effort to even offer to start.Anyone got an
idea. This sage has been going for weeks but
I really only attempted to do something yesterday.
History:Pc messed up using ghost(not by me) and bios chip got some bent legs
but sorted all these problems(with some help from this board yesterday)Tried
to load Various versions of XP(all legit) and finally stuck in WIN 98 AND IT
LOADED ok.
any idea whats up Doc?

Well this is a far fetched idea but any c hance this hard drive is setup as
a slave instead of primary master? Could your cmos settings have gotten
changed and it doesn't see this drive as a bootable drive so it skips it all
together in the boot sequence? Can you boot the computer from a:\ and then
switch to this HD and run XP?
Probably has no bearing but ideas you might want to eliminate.
Good Luck,

Now you have Windows 98 on the PC run the compatibility checked option that
appears when you put the Windows XP CD in the drive.
This may give you some pointers to issues.
