My wifes neice is in college and attempting to upgrade
from XP home to Pro and "during" the installation process,
she gets an error about a file that's missing and she
can't proceed. It asks her for the path to the missing
file. But she can't find that file and her keyboard and
mouse aren't working fully. She can back out of the
installation process and everything works fine. Is this
common? What's up? Thanks.

Greetings --

It sounds like she's using a badly burned copy to perform the
"upgrade."
