View Full Version : A-drive
Hello,
My PC tries to read / write to/from the A-drive several times during a work
session, even though there is no disc in it and I have not tried to
copy/move/read any files to/from it. It doesn't seem to caise any problems,
but is this normal?

What work are you doing? Word Processing? If so, check your automatic
backup settings as it sounds like they are auto backing up to your floppy.
You say it doesn't cause problems...don't you get the message: "there is no
disc drive in A:\ blah blah"? That in my view is a problem. If the problem
exists outside of word processing, go to task manager and check what
programs are running.
Good luck

Also in some instances, depending upon what you're doing,
your anti-virus software may be checking for the presence
of a disk in the floppy drive . . .

I had the same problem on a new computer, I checked out the AV programs
and sure enough, they were checking the "A" drive as part of their
procedure. Made the changes and now OK, no more checking of "A" drive.
