in win 98 I was able to auto run or open cd-roms from a short-cut on the desktop. I can't get XP to do this, when I double click on the short-cut it says- "that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properl
y". But nothings been changed or moved.

Delete the shortcut on the desktop, then open up My Computer and right click
on the CD drive and click on Create Shortcut and drag it over to the
desktop. This should work.
