My XP setup was running really well especially where it was remembering my
username to various sites that required me to login.
Now, all of a sudden - I have to actually type in my username as XP no
longer remembers what it was? What did I turn off, or turn on that XP no
longer knows this information??

You may have turned off 'auto complete'. However, I gave up on that and now
use a fantastic little applet called RoboForm (www.roboform.com). Not only
does it remember logins for you (up to 30 unless you register), but it fills
forms and has layouts for about 20 different countries. There's no spyware,
no popups, just a very useful little applet. You can even enter your credit
card details for online shopping sprees. I have just registered it as it's
on my essential downloads list. You're a fool to surf without it! ;o)
However, if you just want to turn autocomplete back on then, Start > Control
Panel > Internet Properties > Content Tab. Click the auto complete button
and see if everything's OK there.
